The new Ford Explorer has a plethora of high-tech electronics that drivers will love. It has the MyFord Touch infotainment screen, a power sunroof to enjoy sunny spring days, a heated steering wheel and second-row seats, cruise control, power windows, locks, and doors, and power-adjustable pedals.

The Explorer also features active park assistance, a power lift gate, power folding seats in the third row, and push-button start. Extra entertainment features include dual USB ports, a DVD entertainment system, and satellite radio for higher-level trims.

A Wealth of Space

Everyone who drives the 2015 Ford Explorer praises it for its roominess, seating up to eight passengers, plus you can fold the back seats to fit large objects. It’s the ideal SUV for families and anyone who needs to haul bigger loads.

The vehicle also has new Curve Control technology that operates in unison with the stability control to apply the throttle and brakes when rounding sharp turns. Prospective buyers will appreciate the fact that the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has bestowed its Top Safety Pick designation on the 2015 Explorer.


This year’s Explorer comes with your choice of three engines. The standard engine is a V6 with 290 horsepower, 3.5 liters, and 255 lb-ft of torque. This engine propels the vehicle to a fuel efficiency of 17 mpg in cities and 24 on highways.

The Sport trim Explorer is equipped with a V6 EcoBoost engine with 365 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque. When powered by this engine, the Explorer tows upwards of 5,000 lbs.

Buyers also have the option of choosing a turbocharged EcoBoost engine with 240 horses, 2.0 liters, and 270 lb-ft of torque. This engine powers the vehicle to hit 20 mpg in urban environments and 28 mpg on highways.

However, if you would like to manually shift, you can do so with the vehicle’s Ford SelectShift technology. The new Explorer has front-wheel drive, yet buyers can opt for Ford’s four-wheel drive system that features intelligent terrain management technology.
